Last year when we visited Phuket I took a cooking class at a training farm. Since then I’ve met a couple who have a house in Phuket and they recommended the Blue Elephant as a restaurant. So, I’m going to take a cooking class there and see how right they are.
The facility looks great. To the right is an olde tyme gas lawn mower.

We start with a walk thru the local market. Some products we cooked with, some were snacks.

The Blue Elephant has a classroom and teaching kitchen behind the main building.

The first dish was chicken in green curry. We used stone mortar and pestle for this. We got to choose how many peppers to include – I’m a wuss, so a single pepper with pith and seeds removed was enough for me.

We go between the classroom and kitchen as we make each dish. They keep them warm (or fry them in the case of the fish cakes) until all are done.

I don’t know if I can really comment on the quality of the restaurant if I was the cook, but I enjoyed it!
Another dance troupe came on board. I prefer yesterday’s group, as each team danced different styles. This group seemed to be focused on the outfits and danced essentially the same steps. On the other hand, they had live music.

As always, loving your pictures and stories! Happy cruising!
