Location: Sabi Sabi, South Africa
The morning game drive starts at 6:00am and lasts three hours. We saw a far bit.
Lilac Breasted Roller. I had a hard time getting focus thru the small branches.

Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill.

We spotted a small group of male Nyala.

Some Bush Squirrels sunning themselves on the side of a tree.

A small herd of Wildebeest.

And finally, some Impala (which are some of my favorite safari animals).

Animals we saw but that I did not get good pictures of:
- Ring-necked Dove
- Wahlberg’s Eagle
- Red-billed Buffalo Weaver
- Swainson’s Spurfowl
- Magpie Shrike
- Vervet Monkeys
- Dwarf Mongoose
Some thoughts:
- The land is more “bushy” in this part of South Africa compared to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. It greatly restricts your vision.
- Three of our vehicles spent about an hour trying to find a leopard that went into a low drainage area.
- I’m having a hard time with the auto-focus on my camera (Canon 80D). I need to dive into the manual before going back out.
- The bathroom in my cabin is larger than my entire cabin on the ship.
- There are separate cabins surrounding a main building, which is where we gather and eat. We are asked to not walk alone after dark, as the facility is not fenced.
We are using open sided Toyota Land Cruisers. I used closed Land Rovers in Kenya. Out guide said the Toyotas are easier to maintain and last longer than the Land Rovers. I’ll need more time in them behind I decide which I prefer.

Hopefully this wooden lion in the reception area is not the only lion I see.
