Time for a four-night field trip. The Silver Dawn docked in Seychelles, we drove to the airport and flew to Nairobi, Kenya.

Side note on Seychelles: this island-chain nation 800 miles (1500 km) east of Africa has the highest GDP per capita and human development index of all African nations. Huh. Maybe I should visit again.

Our first day was travel, as we stayed in a nice hotel in Nairobi with the plan to fly to the Masai Mara the next morning. Two Cessna later and our group of 12 is there! We are staying in the Mara Bushtop safari camp. It’s another of those “luxury tents” places.

The tents are rather nice.

These tents are rather private (as opposed to other sites), they even offer outdoor showers.

But there is also an indoor option.

After a quick clean-up we were off. Hopefully, I’ll have more time to add commentary with my next post.

The first giraffe we saw were in the trees, so I got this spooky photo.

I need to wake up early tomorrow, so I’ll save the late game drive until then.
