Cabin

The Silver Dawn is a sister ship to the Silver Moon, the ship I was on in 2023. So I do not plan to duplicate the cabin information I posted here. My current cabin is the mirror of my previous one. However, there is some new stuff.

Let’s start with my door. Over the years I’ve collected many tourist magnets. In addition, Silversea often gives out such magnets for every cruise segment. Recently they are giving us postcards instead, so I use small magnets to attach them. Notice the origami on the left side – I’ve been taking classes during sea days.

My Cabin Door

This is the pylon to the right of my door. The suite number is printed on a clip that holds notes, appointment reminders and such.

While I’m not showing my living space (same as before), I did learn something this week. Turns out several people “expand” their closet space into the bathroom. The closet is about 6-feet by 4-feet (2m by 1m), which includes the set of drawers. That may not be enough for some couples. So, Silversea helps them out.

Here’s the normal tub. Note the wall handles, for use when the sea is a bit bumpy.

There is a retractable line, for things like hanging your swimsuit to dry.

However, you can talk to your butler, and they will arrange for ship engineers to cover the tub and add a clothes hanging rod.

More Improvisation

They essentially add two pieces of plywood atop your tub. They also add contact “wallpaper” fabric on the plywood. So now you can place shoes beneath your new closet.

The engineer uses zip-ties to secure the clothes rod.

There you go, “instant” closet additional space. I assume you only hang stuff that doesn’t care about humidity from your shower.

I can’t decide what I find more amusing – people asking to use the bathtub to hang clothing, or it happening so often that Silversea has a standard way to make it happen.
