We got the large plane again and jumped down to the Masai Mara. No issues what so ever, so we had a game drive on the way to the hotel. This reserve does not require you to drive on the “roads”, which is what I remembered from 20 years ago. And we found some crocs…

There were also some birds around this wet area.

Arrive at hotel. Lunch. Head back out. W00t!

A whole family of banded mongoose zipped around us. These guys were hard to track.

Finally got a decent picture of a jackal. Our guide thought it had a den in this bush.

We then had about an hour driving around without seeing anything. Then we saw a line of vehicles waiting to go into a large group of bushes. Our guide said the Mara reserve has a “no more than five vehicles at any site” rule. We waited a bit and discovered a sleeping male lion.

Somebody was in the middle of a major nap attack.

Driving back to the hotel for dinner we found some elephants.

One of the elephants is a new mother. Our guide said the baby was less than two months old.

We caught the baby elephant suckling.

One more day to go.
