The last night before the final port the entire crew is presented on stage. Cooks, butlers, housekeeping, bar (loud cheer at their introduction – lol), reception, shore excursions, engineering and more. After 300+ days on Silversea and several cruises I still think it’s a great thing to show appreciation for the folks who make it all happen.

Leaving the ship was different than normal because no one was coming on. After kicking us off the Silver Whisper was re-positioning to Athens; so for 30-days they will sail with no passengers and only a basic crew. It made the disembarkation process pretty easy.

Six folks and I have two nights in Singapore before leaving; we started our tour at the National Orchid Gardens. Prepare for many flower pictures.

There is a chilled green house to display the orchids that grow in higher elevations. I thought all orchids were hot environment plants. Score another one for new knowledge.

The park had “yard art” made from concrete and copper to break up the continuous greenery. It still knocks me out that people can live at a place where orchids are normal.

We then visited Little India and Chinatown. To be honest, all the little shops merged together in my mind.

We took some time to explore the Thian Hock Keng Taoist temple. The architecture is very similar to the many Buddhist temples we’ve seen over the last ten weeks. However, there is still artistic complexity in the common things.

Then we had a surprising photo stop at a bar. I didn’t believe our guide at first, but the Atlas bar is an art deco masterpiece. I may need to make up a reason to return to Singapore just to spend more time in this bar.

After all that it was time to check into our hotel. The bedroom alone is larger than my whole cabin was. It will take time to adjust to non-ocean liner life. I wonder how many days it will take me to remember how to drive?
