Bumpy

We caught the edge of a storm as we left Sortland – the captain said if we don’t go now we’d have to stay in Sortland for three days before things cleared up. It was a bit bumpy that night, and my veranda sliding glass door kept opening. Multiple times I had to get out of bed, close and lock the door. And the waves and wind kept convincing the door to open anyway. I called maintenance and they fixed it with… a stick.

Stick

There is a notch on the end that holds the handle and you just whack the stick until it holds the door. As a retired engineer, I admire a simple and effective solution. It also stopped the whistling from the wind.

Last night was the “thanks for being a loyal customer” event. There were 494 passengers on this cruise out of a possible 596. Of these, only 215 were prior Silversea cruisers – a lower number than I expected. Here they also tell us the top-5 passengers with the largest number of days on Silversea. #5 was 401 and #1 was 976 – over 2 1/2 years. My almost 300 days seems ordinary.

There was a special meal and wine pairing lunch offered as we entered the fjord to dock at Flåm. The views were great, but the meal was amazing as well.

  1. OMGoodness…you had two of my favorite wines! First, Laurent Perrier Rose. You know where I had that the first time??!?! In London, at The Savoy! When SOMEONE had to take a nap back at his hotel and left me to my own devices to wander the city….found the lobby bar at The Savoy and some fabulous Champagne. Then Ch Latour 2008….holy moly….is that fabulous. That entire menu looks wonderful!
