Welcome to the next Cruise Boy’s Norwegian Grammar Class: The “cross o” (ø) in “Tromsø” is pronounced like the “o” is followed by an “eh”. So it is “trum soeh”. Like before, there is a sound-link at the beginning of the Wiki page. Tromsø is the first city/town that we’ve visited this cruise that has buildings taller than our cruise ship. I don’t know what that signifies, but it’s something.

Today I decide to visit puppies! There is a dog-sled organization about an hour from the port, the Villmark Center. Here we watched a 20-minute video about about the owner’s mother-and-son teams competing at a local 130+ kilometer multi-day dog sled event. Depending on the type of snow the dogs wear mittens to protect their feet.

The dogs are Alaskan Huskies, which are smaller than I expected.

After walking the grounds we were taken to the puppy kennel. They keep the dogs in separate sub-kennels within the large kennel, so we had to get everyone inside before the guide unleashed the tornado that are six 3 1/2 month old dogs.

It’s difficult to explain how stunning the surrounding landscapes are. Earlier in the year I spoke about cruising in Antarctica, and it’s amazing. But within the fjords there are towns, cities, farms within a stones throw of thrusting mountains. I’m sure the locals get used to it, but it takes my breath away.

I had room service last night, and decide to class it up a bit. Below is shredded lobster and caviar bun, truffle oil fries and caviar-topped pasta. The salt in the caviar worked well with the oil on the pasta. It’s easy to get used to.
