We’ve started the two-day journey back to Puerto Williams. So, this is a good time to show you my upgraded cabin. Right away there is a difference between this “Medallion” suite and my normal “Deluxe Veranda”. In my other cabins as you enter from the hallway you must pass the bathroom and bed to get to the living area. Here, you enter the living area directly.
Like the Veranda suite, there is a desk, sofa (this one is a fold-out sleeper), chairs and coffee table. With the upgrade there is now space for a proper dining table. Previous cruises I would eat room service on the coffee table.
Big change is now the “bedroom” is separated by a wall; previously it was a pull curtain only. The wall is super thin, but has two doors that could be closed for privacy – such as if someone was sleeping in the sofa-bed. Note, while the doors can be secured open or closed, they still rattle if the waves are too rough.
The closet is only a little bigger than before – they lose space with the walkway from the bed to the bath.
Like my previous expedition cruise, this bathroom does not have a bathtub. However, I still prefer the bathroom on the Silver Origin in Galapagos. The shower had more space and the room was better laid out.
Finally, here is the veranda. Note that this cabin has two sets of glass doors to the verands, one from the bedroom and one from the living area.
My thoughts about the upgraded suite – the space was nice, and I appreciate that Silversea offered this upgrade. However, I am not a fan of being at the top of the ship. I may like it more if the same cabin was on a lower deck, near where my tradition cabin would be – Deck 5 or 6. But who knows when that would occur.
Tonight was the official “thank you to the crew” farewell event in the theater. I like how Silversea does this every time. We say “goodbye” to the guides tomorrow.
