Breakfast & Tidbits

There are two options for breakfast: ala cart and buffet. Well, actually three options if you include room service. I’m not much of a fan of more formal breakfasts, so I always choose the buffet. Since the majority of passengers are from North America, there are the standards I’d expect. But most of the rest of the passengers are from the UK or Europe, so you’ll find a variety of foods.

The center station has fish and other seafood. You can see the upper shelf has jams for toast and some pre-made mixed yogurts.

Seafood

The next station has assorted meats and cheeses, with pre-assembled combinations in take-to-the-table boxes.

Then we have boxed cereal, assorted juices, commercial yogurts (usually with fruit) and loose yogurt.

Juices

Here we have muesli in whole, skim or coconut milk with fruit in the back. A note on muesli, if it is new to you: think of it as unbaked granola. The intent is to soak it before consumption, which I remembered after trying it dry in my yogurt.

We then have more fruit, with melons in the rear.

We now have the hot bar, where you will find bacon, sausage, various egg dishes and beans.

The final station is pastries, which includes breads for toasting, croissants, Danishes and donuts along with condiments.

Pastries

Once seated you can order other items, like omelets, pancakes and what-not. I normally eat a scoop of muesli (draining the milk), add fruit (I discovered I like mandarin oranges) and top with yogurt. I usually cannot escape without adding a Danish.

Last night we had our second performance by the acoustic guitar duo Siqueira Lima. I enjoyed their music and stage presence. They finish the show with a number where they both play the same guitar. I was able to upload some video, altho I still can’t get all the spotlight glare off them.
