More tidbits today.

We docked in Lima, Peru. Technically, in Callao, which is near Lima and has the country’s main seaport and airport. Callao is a commercial port, so it’s not the prettiest I’ve ever seen. However, we met an acquaintance.

Seabourn Sojourn

Seabourn is a direct competitor with Silversea in the luxury cruise business. My Silver Moon has been shadowing the Seabourn Sojourn since Mexico, and they were the cruise ship in front of us in the Panama Canal. However, the Sojourn is due in French Polynesia by 7-Feb, so she will be heading west soon. Here they are about to start refueling operations – the yellow floats are being deployed and will soon surround both ships.

Yesterday I was introduced to the “Secrets of South American Sandwiches”. With us missing the Salaverry port our S.A.L.T. chef had to make some quick changes to her plans. But with one of the sandwiches you hollow out the bread and stuff the spiced ground beef inside.

With the other sandwich you coated the steak with garlic mayonnaise before frying it. The toppings were (supposed to be) fresh green beans and sliced tomatoes. But Salaverry had the fresh veggies, so the beans were frozen, thus a little floppy. The prep chef sliced the tomatoes in strings rather than circles. Different, but tasty.
