Demographics

There are 144 world cruisers this year. That’s a small number compared to previous Silversea world cruises (about 20 weeks long) or grand voyages (about 10 weeks long), but that is not a surprise. As I mentioned in October 2025, the itinerary of this world cruise changed last year. Seems many choose to not participate in the changed itinerary and do something else instead.

The Silver Dawn can carry up to 600 passengers (with 411 crew), and on this Lima-to-Tahiti segment we have 417 passengers in total. So, the ship is more than 30% empty – and it feels like it. Even before skipping Easter Island there is a high percentage of sea days on this segment; maybe that some of the reason.

It is funny the number of people I recognize. Some are on the world cruise, but many are just on one or two segments. I guess it’s a small family.
