Moving south along Isabella Island we stopped in Elizabeth Bay.  This trip was a full Zodiac tour of a mangrove forest.  Our guide pointed out that it was full low tide.  The “cut out” at the bottom of the tree branches show the over 2-meter range of low and high tide.

I might as well start with the mandatory “napping Sea Lion” picture.  There were far less sea lions here that other stops, but not zero.

The water in the mangrove was quite shallow (low tide and all), so there were many turtles and rays safely resting here. As before, you’ll just have to trust me on the rays.  Many turtles were hugging the roots, but there were just as many fishing in the open areas.

In the trees we were re-introduced to the Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, adolescent and adult.  The adult is trying really hard to hide behind one stick.

Now what follows is a sentence I did not think I’d ever say: “Here are some swamp penguin pictures.”  Last week I was bemused by penguins next to cactus.  I don’t know what to think anymore.
