Hello, again: Cruiseboysians! It’s been almost three months since I completed my 2019 World Cruise, so I finally feel like I returned home. It was an adventure re-learning things like “how to use the washing machine” and “how to drive after five months”, but I can say with confidence I am back home.
So naturally my sister and her family came to visit.
Here they returned from the County Fair rodeo. It was time for a ‘Merica (heck yeah) hat selfie with my niece and nephew.
And we invaded a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant.
But then we got to the real adventure and camped at Yosemite National Park. It was about a four-hour drive, and over a mile in elevation change. We camped in Curry Village, which are tarp-covered one-room frames. There is a bed, single light bulb and an electrical outlet. You are not allowed to bring food into the tent for fear of bears investigating, so there are “bear boxes” next to your cabin.
Yosemite is amazing – if you have the chance you should visit. Even the views from the parking lot takes your breath away.
We then took the short hike to Yosemite Falls, the highest waterfall in the USA at 740 m and fifth highest in the world.
I was feeling the elevation a bit – it’s been 20 years since I last visited Yosemite and I am not as fit as I used to be. They kids zipped about with no problem, as they do.
However, a deer walked thru the tents.
