The Bund in Shanghai was the old foreign settlements and is now the cool banking and shopping area. I decided to not take an organized tour and have a walk around. There is a bull sculpture by the same artist who made the one on NYC Wall Street. Things I can tell you about the sculpture: 1) it’s decidedly male, and 2) everyone who gets a selfie in front of the bull also goes around to get a selfie from the rear. That’s all I’m saying about that.
The main shopping are is a pedestrian-only street for over a mile. It’s well made and there are police EVERYWHERE. Most of the stores are Chinese – however, only a few are super aimed at tourists.
In fact, I found heaven: an M&Ms “Super Store”. Mix and match your own types and colors. You’d think I wasn’t on a cruise ship that has it’s own dedicated pastry chef.
Returning to the ship I got my last view of the famous skyline.
Walking back, I passed a few memorials. Say what you want about the politics and results, but I always admire commie motivational art.
As the ship left dock I got my final shots of the distinctive TV and radio broadcasting Oriental Pearl Tower.
