Tours

Location: Tours, France

Look! A double entendre (I am so very French)! I am talking about the tour I am on, and we are visiting the city of Tours, France. You get nothing but literary quality with Cruise Boy…

We took a train from Bordeaux to Tours, jumped on a bus and started chateau visiting. We began with Chāteau de Vilandry, which is famous for its gardens. For a very good reason.

You get a good view of how old these houses are and how they have been repaired and added onto over time. We then traveled to the formally royal residence in Amboise. Over half of the chāteau has been taken down in the past. Now the house church is separate from the rest of the home.

Within the chapel is the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci. Seems he spent the last years of his life with the French king. I never knew he left Italy.

We then visited the grounds of the where Leonardo lived and worked. We didn’t have a lot of time before we needed to get to our hotel and our dinner reservations, so I don’t have any pictures.
