Le Verdon

En route to Bordeaux, France. Arrive on 14-May (a few hours)

This was a first for this cruise. Seems Bordeaux, France is at the far end of a rather long delta/estuary and it will take over five hours for the ship to fight the river current to get there after leaving the Atlantic Ocean. So, the ship stopped at Le Verdon-sur-Mer to drop folks off to take a bus to Bordeaux so they can enjoy a couple of hours in town before the ship gets there.

Bus is Faster than a Ship

I don’t know how busy the Le Verdon port normally is, but it sure is not now.

Desolate

The only thing I saw were some Army vehicles practicing radar communications.

Busy
Not Busy

The river is super brown, maybe it has rained recently?

I have dinner scheduled in Bordeaux tonight and then I leave the ship for two nights to tour some stately homes in the Loire valley. During every other cruise field trip, the hotel has had good WiFi, so I will assume that trend will continue.

  1. Please take lots of pics of your dinner in Bordeaux. You have NO idea how jealous I am right now. The wine! Pay attention to the wine and take pics of labels. Wish I was there! Bon Appetit!!!!
