Leaving Lisbon

En route to Bilbao, Spain. Arrive on 13-May.

I slept thru our arrival in Lisbon, but I knew there were fun things to see along the river. We left dock at 6:00pm, so the setting sun was going to light objects well as we steamed into the Atlantic Ocean.

First, here is a panoramic view of Lisbon from our cruise terminal.

Here’s a closer view of the Church of Santa Engracia, also called the National Pantheon.

As we approached the bridge the Christ the King statue came into view. There is an obvious inspiration by the similar statue in Rio.

Overlooking the Bridge

As we went under the 25th of April bridge (which looks very much like the Golden Gate bridge), I noticed the casements had sea mammal decorations.

The Monument to the Discoveries was too far for me to walk, but it was lit up by the sun well. The boat sailing in front was a nice touch.

Discoveries

Our last formal night is tomorrow. Because of all the line dancing work during afternoon dance class, I’ll never be able to look at my new tux without thinking of the Macarena. I’m doomed.
