Question: Has Anything Scary Happened on the Cruise?
Nothing “scary” has happened, but some unusual things like:
- Turning around the very first day out of San Francisco to returned a poor guest who had injured themselves
- The engines shutting down during the first week (but only for 15 minutes)
- The first night we sailed into large waves, every time the ship crested a wave there was a large metallic “bang” as the bow slammed into the water
Question: Have You ever Felt Sad Leaving a Port?
Not really. When you take a world cruise you kind of accept a limit to the number of days you spend in each port. Due to my Kyoto field trip, I could only spend one day in Tokyo, so I wish I could have had one (or two) more days in Tokyo – but that is not “sadness.”
The Voices
The ship had a formal night recently, and the onboard performers sang at dinner to kick things off. Called “The Voices of Silversea,” they perform all sorts of shows during the evenings, help guests during immigration upon arrival at ports, escort tours at port and on sea days they even play water volleyball and mini-golf with the guests.
They are disgustingly talented, and I have enjoyed getting to know all of them.
