Val’s Day

En route to Komodo, Indonesia. Arrive on 15-Feb.

At dinner the evening leaving Darwin the restaurant was all decked out “down under”. Stuffed koalas and kangaroos, Aussie flags and the staff in festive garb. I wish I brought my phone to snap some pictures.

However, with today being Valentine’s Day, every cabin’s door has a giant heart on it. And tonight is a formal night…

My Door

Each cabin door and nearby column is metal, so many guests put up magnets to personalize their cabins. My sister gave me awesome super-magnets as a “bon voyage” gift, so I have my artsy paper-bag star and new (made today) folded-paper envelope decorating my cabin space. You may recognize my zoo koala picture from a two weeks ago. Silversea gave us magnets for each leg of the cruise, and I’m putting them on the door as each leg starts

String Fever

Last night’s entertainment was by String Fever. Performed with skill and more than a touch of Aussie humor and flair.

  1. Questions from my kiddos at school:
#1 – When you wake up, is breakfast in cabin or in restaurant?
#2 – How is the food? (Sean is all about the food)
#3 – Other than what we saw…what other animals did you see? Great White Shark?
#4 – While the laundry presentation was lovely…they want to know what laundry smelled like after delivered/done. (what can I say…they are teenagers)
#5 – What has been your favorite place so far?
#6 – my co-teacher (Mr. DeHart) wants to know if the women are pretty (I post this question in protest)
#7 – Overall, do you like the cruise so far?

      • Of course you can answer in public. First question this morning from kiddos was “did he answer??”
I am about to share your dragons with them.

  2. Kid liked your “door reveal” (their words) for Val Day.
They are requesting pics of your cabin (just to see what it is like).
They also asked about your profession and what it takes to be an engineers (I would tell them yet they no listen to me…after all I am only their teacher!) 🙂

    • I didn’t have time to shop for ready-made tuxes, and to have them tailor made from scratch took six weeks. So I’m still wearing my dark suit, and am looking towards Hong Kong.
