It is time to get back on the water, Cruiseboysians. I embark on the Silver Moon (built in 2020) to enjoy Silversea’s “South America Grand Voyage” 2022. I originally signed up for the 2021 version, but Silversea canceled the cruise two months before the start due to the state of COVID in the countries and ports we were to visit.
My World Cruise 2019 took over four months, and I enjoyed it greatly. However, four months was a long time to be away from home. I convinced myself to focus on shorter trips next time. Since my world cruise skipped South America, it seemed the logical next destination.
On 3-Jan-2022 we set off from Fort Lauderdale, FL, head along the eastern coast of Central American and pass thru the Panama Canal. We then circle South America counter-clockwise, returning to Fort Lauderdale after visiting many islands in the eastern Caribbean. For those of you new to multi-month cruising, the itinerary is broken into approximately two-week duration “legs” or “segments”. Not all the guests onboard are there for the full Grand Voyage, so each segment start/end port allows those who only want a shorter taste of cruising the chance to hop on/off.
The Silversea page is here – note: once the cruise starts it is likely that Silversea will take the page down.
But that is not enough for this Cruise Boy! Once back in Fort Lauderdale I switch to the Silver Dawn (built in 2021) and enjoy her maiden cruise where we will cross the Atlantic to visit the islands between North America and Europe, followed by stops in Portugal and Spain. Once in Barcelona I disembark and will spend time with my sister and her family (who live near Barcelona).
I’ve been busy planning and packing. I’ll try to update at least bi-weekly as we get closer. Talk to you soon!
