Location: Tema, Ghana
We are visiting Tema, Ghana – which is just outside the capital of Accra. Like many of our stops, there is no cruise terminal.
Per my norm, I took a “general experience” tour. We stopped at Black Star Square for a quick photo.
We then went to the nearby Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum park, the first president after Ghana gained independence.
We visited a rather unique Ghana industry – personal designer coffins. Seems this started only in the last few decades, but there are now crafts people for this. Perhaps you like beer? Here’s a coffin you can buy early and use as storage until you need it – the shelves are removable. Within are small sample-size units. You can have them made full size, or use them if you are cremated.
We had lunch at a local beach resort and were entertained by the Nana Nom dance troupe, who performed dances from different regions of Ghana. The music is very drum based.
So, it was a nice, altho very hot, day. But you have to understand. While Accra is the capital of Ghana, it is not really developed. We are a tourist bus and they took us this way.
Bonus Jellyfish
As we left Namibia the water was full of red jellyfish.
