En route to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Arrive on 23-Feb.
After I posted the Manila entry, Sandiwang Kayumanggi Filipino folk-dance troupe performed for us on board. They were amazing.
The finale involved Tinikling – where the dancers move between two bamboo poles that are being moved and snapped into each other. I finally remembered that my camera can also record video, but the file is far too large to upload while at sea (but I am happy with how it came out).
Question: What has been your favorite place so far?
Island: definitely Moorea, it is just so beautiful. If I want an island-type of vacation in the future I will return, even tho it would be a very long flight. From anywhere. Maybe this time I’ll see dolphins.
Non-Island: this is harder, as it is not location based. I enjoy learning new things. During sea days I’m attending lectures, taking arts & craft and dance classes. I don’t really enjoy dancing, but I like learning how to dance.
Excursion/Tour: There has not been one, single thing that stands apart from the rest. As I said above, I like learning new things.
- Rangiroa – I learned how pearls were seeded/grown/harvested.
- Bora Bora – I learned about new diving helmets
- Australia – I learned about the Oz unique animals
- All – I learned about different architecture
On the other hand, we are just starting the “it’s different here” part of the cruise. As a kid I’ve lived in Hawaii, so I knew about islands. New Zealand and Australia is mostly western. So, the Asia and Africa legs of the cruise are where I expect to see the really different.
