Well, I’m in my cabin.
It is bucketing rain in San Francisco. I haven’t seen rain like this in California for years, and it seems there are several days of continuous storms forecast. Looks like a sloppy field for Monday’s college football bowl game in Levi Stadium (only a few miles from where I live).
But I’m on vacation damit, so I showed up in shorts and beach shirt. I got some strange looks from fellow cruise goers, but I barely got wet. Silversea did an excellent job moving us from the hotel to the ship. However, the weather is so bad we can’t refuel, so it will happen early tomorrow morning.
Compared to week-long cruises my cabin is a good size. And they had quite the spread waiting for me – bottles of cookies, crackers, peanuts/raisins, M&M clones, gummy bears and candied pineapple. If I’m not careful I will not have room for meals.
It is a full seven days on the ocean before our first port. I am interested in seeing how the cruise director handles this. I attended the “getting to know you” event, and they do a full day of classes and performances. And lots and lots of bridge. After 50 years on not learning how to play from my Mother, I may need to break down.
